Wink How would a best of album differ from tgh album?

If you didn't have to take chart success as the defining factor and could chhose tracks that you thought showcased the manics the best?

I would have as my tracks

Methodone pretty
Another invented disease
Little baby nothing
Drug drug druggy
Sleepflower
Symphony of tourette
Pcp
If white america told the truth
Elvis impersonator
No surface all feeling
Kevin carter
I'm not working
Born a girl
Miss europa disco dancer
To repel ghosts
Your love alone
She bathed herself in a bath of bleach
Donkeys

Hmmm, best of wise it depends, if it was released at the same time as a greatest hits it'd be easier to do...

If you mean an entirely personal best of not based around singles/hit value then for me (I'm not using any tracks that popped up on the FD best of):

1 - Sleepflower
2 - Yourself
3 - Yes
4 - Are Mothers Saints?
5 - Jackie Collins
6 - Solitude Sometimes Is
7 - The Year of Purification
8 - Be Natural
9 - Black Dog On My Shoulder
10 - Facing Page; Top Left
11 - Indian Summer
12 - Automatik Teknikolour
13 - The Love Of Richard Nixon
14 - To Repel Ghosts
15 - Judge Yr'self
16 - 4st 7lbs (US Mix)
17 - My Guernica
18 - PCP (US Mix)
19 - Valley Boy
20 - William's Last Words
21 - You Love Us (Heavenly Mix)

There you go.

I'm going to pretend you didn't say that, it's one of their best post-richey lyrics.

I don't mind anything specific about it like the lyrics or the production, I mind that it's a bit cheesy, in my opinion. Sorry.

So you're saying you'd want that on a Best Of collection?

No need to apologise . Yeah, I'd probably put it in there, wouldn't be top of the list but it would make it.

Using the FD tracklisting I've come up with songs that sound slightly like the songs that are on the FD album (but are just as good)? Or were actually from the same album the singles were taken from. In order for this to work I had to not take lyrics into account and it gave me a weird horror feeling what it felt like to be "One of those"?
Probably explains why Sony Music would never give me a job but:

1. Indian Summer (ADFL beat)
2. Are Mothers Saints? (ME carbon copy)
3. Umbrella (It's got the "Tolerate" sound!)
4. Roses In The Hospital (Not as dancey as "La Tristesse Durera" but still cigar)
5. The Love Of Richard Nixon (TBTGOG)
6. Your Love Alone Is Not Enough (YLU- see what I've done here?)
7. Life Becoming A Landslide (Australia and yeah here's where it gets sketchy)
8. Marlon JD (YSTSFMH both have drum machines)
9. Autumnsong (KC has a spoof spy feel to the music, so er...spoof pop metal?)
10.To Repel Ghosts (This takes it to breaking point but it suits the Tsunami place)
11.Stay Beautiful (TMATC and pfffff...)
12.Me And Stephen Hawking (FDTW soulmate at least)
13.Solitude Sometimes Is (DTTR follow up. Not really but in my head it sounds like)
14.Slash N Burn (EMG has Spector sound, this has Madonna reference... er...)
15.Empty Souls (I'll explain at the end of the post)
16.Found That Soul (Not as produced as LBN but I suddenly remembered it was also a single)
17.Leviathan (Suicide Is Painless single was also for a charity)
18.Ocean Spray (SWSS also from KYE)
19.Socialist Serenade (B-side from TIMTTMY. Was going to put "Just A Kid")
20.New Art Riot (I got this right anyway for a Motown Junk early link?)

Empty Souls although sounding nothing like Faster (thanks) has an intro that was as alien to the Manics sound as the intro of Faster was to their 92-93 sound.
I didn't even put a question mark there as I know I'm in the right!
