Manics German TV gig 1996
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJ8rScwpYn8
I think this vid on youtube deserves its own thread. They look so pure and innocent here. While EMG is not my fav album in terms of production (just my opinion!) in many ways EMG is my fav live era in terms of the guys being a 3 piece (with the organ of course) and Jimbo making everything look so effortless. The version of ME in this gig is the slowest version I've ever heard and I really like it. It is noticeably slower compared to the way they blast through it now. I always loved the EMG era version of LTD as well. So effortless and beautiful. The audience are dead except for a few people swaying. But the band just play the songs with no 2nd guitarist or Jimbo not playing certain parts. Many many thanks to the person who uploaded this (if they are on here). |

Was this when Nicky had a bad back and stood on the spot for most TV stuff? Cause he's not exactly mobile here.

Haha James having a go at the crowd before Kevin Carter. "Don't fucking laugh, ill fucking have yer alright!". Ah those were the days! Cheers. Slow ME is weird, they seemed to alternate with that back then, at Glasto 94 it was like it is nowadays but on THB tour gigs I've heard it was more like this version.

Love ME done at that tempo.
I forgot James sometimes didn't bother with solos back then. So weird hearing him just omit the first ME solo, and just doing chords instead. |

Nice find!I really enjoyed watching it even thought it felt a bit strange in some ways. Liked No Surface All Feeling especially and the slow version of ME.

Definitely would prefer it if they played it slow like this now, seeing as they slow down other songs. This and Tolerate should be slowed down as they're too quick live and for me lose the appeal.
Back to the video - more bonus points for seeing James playing the YLU solo in the crowd. Never seen him do something like that before, proper rock n roll. Last edited by Radiomanic; 02-05-2014 at 17:42. |

Jimbo is a pure pissed off new London boy in this.
Now he is more of a crooner, especially with those fucking awful jackets he was wearing in the RTF and pre-Futurology tours, but in this he spits out the lines like the good old days. Quote:

I've never seen him doing that before and I was quite surprise. I would have never expect that from him tbh. Proper rock n roll kind of thing
