They were about for years before the "footy chant". That was the only Fratellis-esque song they did.

That said, they are/were pretty shit - although proper socialists.

I know a friend of Danbert Nobacon, and apparently they only pay themselves a monthly wage on a par with the average UK worker, despite raking in millions on the back of Tubthumping. They also donate heavily to leftie charities.

that's good - not like certain band members you can name who spout off about their socialist views whilst sitting in a big house, not backing it up with any action at all (I'm looking at you Mr. Wire)

Ah but he has money but hates champagne

As James said once the Manics have never been the trade unionists of rock so it's understandable that a band like Chumbawumba would have a go at them.

Yeah i remember the song vaguely........its a classic example of the left saying this is the left and some other leftie saying this is the left. They basically destroy themselves.

Chumbawamba rule. If u dont like the UN album u dont have a soul. I heard a rumour that Richey Edwards is in a monestry in Italy listening to that album continuously on a loop.

I seem to remember them at the Brits. One of the women had a slogan on her shirt that said "Label Whore". The thing that struck me about the performance was that the set and their clothes were so contrived that the record company must have paid for some stylist/designer input.

Also, "he drinks a lager drink" must be one of the single worst lyrics of all time.

Or maybe he realised socialism is dead in the water so thought "Fuck it?" Who was that old woman "Labour leader" Gordon Brown invited for tea when he became P.M.?
