My favourite Manics album. Just beautiful. Nobody who has ever seen one of my posts is suprised by this

The B-sides are lovely too. I was listening to "Litany" about 500 times on the journey down to the Carlisle gig. "If you live with regret it can give you some strength"...lovely. I was going to write some of the lyrics on my hands and/or face for the gig...then realised I didn't have a pen

Regards,
Marwood.

Nice to see that it's your favourite album but you've criminally underrated Cardiff Afterlife.

I would take issue with your comment but I think we've already argued about this to death.

One of my favourites to listen to as a complete album - very 'easy' listen once you know the record, and runs like 'Departure' to 'Sleep' to 'Ghosts' are just career highs.

Never cared for Solitude Sometimes Is, though. Also Cardiff Afterlife's chorus is pretty bad (but the verse and intro alone make it a contender for the best song on the album) and Fragments/Glasnost are a little underwhelming.

I might be alone in adoring Emily, it's unusual but a solid number and Always/Never is almost as good.

I've gone off the album a little in recent years but Cardiff Afterlife is probably my favourite Manics song. I have to also mention Emily as a massively underrated track, really love it.

Only two songs don't make the cut for me - Glasnost (or as I call it Glas-snot) and SSI. Both are very poor, although I don't know what happened to SSI, it seemed a lot better when they played it at IOW.

Still my favourite of theirs, Song For Departure is my fave all time top Manic's track, a couple I'm not keen on are Glasnost and Solitude. James's voice never been better.

Huh, as much as I love LB I always thought it and KYE were James' laziest albums vocally. Hearing Send Away The Tigers was really affirming that he could still sing well, even if it wasn't nearly as good an album.

To be fair I really prefer shouty James and feel he sometimes has issues with 'tender'.

I prefer his quieter moments to his shouting, a lot of non Manic fans have said they don't like them because of James's screaming voice

Not listened to Lifeblood for a while, PFAYM has been the only thing Manics I've reached for. Might reach further and give it a listen to see if I still like it.
But last time I looked I still liked it. Fragments is still amazing.
If it was any other band that would have been called a classic.

That's Truth you're thinking of, there's plenty of guitar on this.

I'll always stick up for Lifeblood, I'd almost stopped listening to the Manics when its release rejuvenated my interest in them. I just thought the poetry and execution of it was spot on. Don't mind if music is soft or heavy as long as it's inspiring - Nicky's most emotive writing and, though I don't understand the single choices, think every song is good if not great.

^ Have to agree - 'Fragments' is amazing.
I love Lifeblood, Solitude sometimes is and Song for Departure are particular favourites.

Incidentally, I really enjoy PFAYM :0)

I really love this album - it just shimmers with class. Don't know why it gets such stick.
