I know they always slag off previous albums but I lost a lot of respect for them when they started hating on this.

One of their finest without a doubt. Subtle, Wistful and Autumnal but with the big tunes like Solitude and 1985 intact. I'd take Emily and Cardiff Afterlife off and replace them with No Jubilees and Quarantine (in my place off).

Its an absolute triumph, a great album and the songs sounded great on tour.

I love Lifeblood. I think 'Solitude Sometimes Is' is an amazing song, it's probably in my top 5 MSP songs. I also love 'Glasnost' and 'I Live To Fall Asleep'. I'm not too keen on 'Cardiff Afterlife' and 'Always/Never' though.

Edit: I'm disappointed James doesn't like it though. They should be proud of this album.

I find it rather dull and unexciting...i respect any band for experimenting with their sound but the result, in this case, was not my cup of tea

It's probably the Manics album I listen to the least. It's really cold and lifeless in my opinion.

Timely, I just listened to it on repeat (plus B sides and era 'rarities') for three hours. It's gorgeous, lush, James's voice is very, very sexy on it, and it has some of the most haunting and beautiful songs they've ever done on it. To Repel Ghosts is one of my top five Manics songs, sometimes it's actually my favourite. 1985 is an absolute triumph, it should have been a single.

Although I dislike The Love Of Richard Nixon and Emily, and think that Everything Will Be should have been included, I love this album and regard it as a genuine work of art.

I agree, I thought Everything Will Be should've been on the album.
