What was Nicky's justification for those if any?

The Manics were certainly an Arena Band during end of 1996, 1997 - 2000, no way now. Despite the LP's they released.

In those days they could sell out 2/3 nights in a row easily now they struggle to even fill an Arena let alone add additional nights.

They've apparently rehearsed seven songs from this album. We know it won't be Vivian, Sequels or Song For The Sadness (as Nicky told me) so there are a few other potential options. I'd put my money on it being In Eternity but not sure where they'd squeeze it in apart from the TBTGOG slot where Liverpool was before.
Sequels would've been great live, so of course it's not being played.

If they can’t play Sequels live (or be bothered to practice it), I guess that confirms we’ll always have to endure many, many more songs like Distant Colours.

I think James losing his range over the last few years, has been one of the determining factors of them increasing the amount of "easier" to sing tracks, like LRS, TBTGOG, FD, ASFD and the lighter stuff off the new album. Of course, time signatures and tempos will also play a part but definitely think his voice is a reason why we won't see certain songs again.

You know I'm beginning to suspect you don't like Distant Colours, DK.

I still think the lack of certain obviously great tracks on these tours is a clear sign that Mr Nicky Wire doesn't play bass on them on the record.

They're keeping Sequels, Song for the Sadness, In Eternity and Broken Algorithms for a hard-rock winter tour in max 1000-capacity venues.

I think as bands get to the number of albums that the Manics have, they tend to play less of the new material as there is such a catalogue of hits, album tracks and rareties that people expect to be part of the set.

There's also the issue of just how good later albums are; with some exceptions, long-lived bands have their best work behind them. Dare I say that once the dust has settled, RIF won't be seen as a high point. IMHO, Futurology was much better which shows they can still cut it but not with the latest album.

Hopefully they're keeping a Song for the Sadness for Leeds. Need cheering up when living (near) there...so it's nearly OK for me to say that

Two to go.. Futurology tour they waited till last two to bring in Let’s Go To War so maybe there's hope yet. Not that I’d advocate hope..

So the answer is yes. It is the least represented album on its own tour. Well, not counting Futurology. Maybe couple of others later in the year, we’ll see.

Nah they chucked in a few more album tracks towards the end of the tour. I think it ended up being eight by the end.
