Forever Delayed - The Studio Album?

I haven't heard anything about this myself but I always found it odd that there were about 6-7 songs recorded for the Forever Delayed sessions. Does anyone know if the band were working on a studio album at the time and just ditched the idea in favour of a Greatest Hits (which still seems odd having only released six studio albums)?

There is a lot of material around that period. A lot of it is very good, and could well make an album. But as individual tracks, they mark a change in sound and hinted at the transition to the sounds found on Lifeblood in the end.

I think they decided to make a GH album a long enough time before its release so I don't think they were working on a normal album. Anyway there was not enough material for an album.

There by the grace of god
Forever delayed
Automatik technicolour
Unstoppable salvation
Its all gone
Happy ending

Are there any more?

That's 6
They also did the Motorcycle Emptiness re-recording around this time.

I'm sure I remember reading / hearing that they basically recorded a bunch of songs and then picked their favourite as the single and the rest as b-sides. It was an intentional choice how they ended up. Personally I think Automatik Technicolour would have been the best choice.

I've often wondered if some of the b-sides from the Lifeblood era, combined with the TBTGOG songs, would've been a more commercially successful album than Lifeblood turned out to be.

Oh that's nothing! I'm still scarred by acoustic Faster with strung orchestra. Only saw it in Channel 4 programme and even then it was an excerpt!

It is re-mix, not re-recording, isn't it? Apart from strings all instruments and vocals are from 92.

I think they said they tried to record it during KYE sessions, but I wouldn't say the final recording is from KYE time. Anyway they didn't release it if it is so it would have ended on the abstract FD studio album.

The live tracks on the Japanese Lifeblood 2CD issue always annoyed me, they could have put TBTGOG and Forever Delayed on there instead and had a comprehensive document of the band's 'electronic' sounding era. What a great double album that would be.

I'm absolutely obsessed with that second Lifeblood album and I've done a lot of tracklists for it, but the problem with those tracks is, they are all mixed differently. And almost none of them well. Headphones absolutely destroy them, but it's good listening on speakers on a lazy sunday.

Oh but the emotion in some of them... All Alone Here is fucking mystical to me.

What I wouldn't give to have them properly mix 12 of them, master them, and put them out. This is exactly the kind of project musicians never do and Kickstarter would be perfect for.
