James has wanted o do this for ages, its been in quite a few reports/interviews. I think it's a great idea and just shows how versatile they are.

The Hero by Queen is one of my favourite songs ever and that was taken from a soundtrack. Hopefully the Manics can do something similar, although I would imagine it would depend on the type of film that they would be working on.

They should follow in the footsteps of Thurston Moore from their beloved Sonic Youth and track a porno.

From The Guardian: "The artist and director Steve McQueen has revealed that his next film will be about the black American actor, singer and activist Paul Robeson." http://www.theguardian.com/film/2014...eson?CMP=fb_gu
Maybe that's the film the Manics are involved in? I'm excited by the possibility.

Their recent instrumental work has been great, and RTF kind of sounds like a soundtrack to me. I’d be interested to listen to this if it happens!

Well, Let Roebson Sing would be a nice ending, and as the refrain starts, with "a voice, so pure", there go the credits on a black screen.
Hmmmh.... would feel sorry to leave the cinema at this point....

Exciting! Hope the soundtrack gets a proper release of some kind.

From the film's synopsis:
Quote:
A special ops unit commandeer a commercial research vessel and its submersible off the coast of North Korea to locate a mysterious item at the bottom of the Yellow Sea.

Hopefully there will be a soundtrack CD, which could technically be classed as James' second solo album!

I wonder why Nick and Sean didn't get involved?

Nick because no words are required for a score, and Sean because there's too much money blocking his front door

It's in London (yay!) but I find film scores terrifying to watch
