Some Richey facts:
Went missing in 1995. Used a Fender Telecaster. Wrote 70% of the lyrics on The Holy Bible. Was from Blackwood. Went to school with James, Nicky and Sean. Carved '4 REAL' into his arm. Not exactly groundbreaking but they're useful. Seriously though, good look with your project, I'll be sure to give it a read once it's complete!

I agree. It sounds like you're going about it in the right way, and so I'm very much looking forward to this.

Bit of telepathy going on there. 256 pages of close personal testimony. If the band/family aren't interested in becoming involved?? Or y'need 257 pages???

my theory is that richey is hiding somewhere on top of a hill writing folk songs. he is singing to the birds.

comments into one post which i can reply to, so i'll just work through them one at a time. i'm being open about as much as i can with this project. the situation with the band and family is that i'm trying to go through the 'proper' channels. i could have tried to speak to the band at a soundcheck or just knocked on graham edwards' door, but i didn't. if any of you have ever tried this kind of thing you'll know how long a process it can be to go through 'official' channels. i hope to have more info from martin hall very soon after waiting a while to get a reply from terri hall. let's not kid ourselves about this, do you think that richey's family are just going to say, hell yeah, come round, we'll give you unlimited access, hours of interviews, and oh, do you want copies of the lyrics richey left behind? that would be great but it's unlikely. i hope that over time i kind build up some trust and then we'll see what happens. and to be sure, when i know more, i'll post it here and on the website that's going up to cover the research behind this project. |

but what would you count as "permission"? interviews with the band? interviews with the family? both? acknowlegdement from the band / family that they're ok with me doing the book but don't want to add interviews? full 100% access to and co-operation from both? |

not sure how sarcastic you meant to be (apologies if you weren't being so at all).
a few simple home truths are that i would love to 'make some cash' from this book. i love writing, i love getting paid to do it. but i'll be paid less than the annual average salary for what will be about 18 months worth of work, so while i get paid for doing this it certainly isn't my motivating factor. |
