It's close to what I expected, since they had said the album would be in the EMG/SATT vein and not the THB/JFPL one. Very much like YLAINE, a happy catchy song everyone will like.

Well, after first listen it's not amazing, but yes very catchy.

At the moment though it sounds to me like a TBTGOG B-side. It didn't have the same impact on me as when I heard Peeled Apples.

That's right... Give in to it... Don't be ashamed to like it...

Very reminiscent of JDB's solo work, with a slight hint of ELO in there too. It's not a belter of a tune but the strings are very lush and the melody is strong. Certainly sounds more like EMG than SATT. At this stage, I'm going to say I like it. I don't love it, but I do like it. 3 stars out of 5.

NOTE: This is a radio rip, so anyone making comments on the production is a buerk. It's not a clear representation of the mix.

On my first listen now and it's just an average song, not very catchy to me. Solo was alright, ooo Nicky popped up (almost missed that, probably due to this not being a crystal clear rip) but it's OK. I'm sure my opinion will change after I've drilled it into my brain today about 50 times

Well, I like it. Good commercial rock.
But truth to say I'm not a big fan of, you know, heavy and dirty sound of the Manics, I'd prefer something more "polished" like TIMT or LB or GATS...

I feel this way also. I'm not impressed at all. I'm a little disappointed but at the same time, Nixon was a horrible single and I loved Lifeblood. I guess I'll just have to wait for the rest of the album to get a better opinion.

Overall I like it a lot whilst not totally loving it, but it feels like a grower.

I'd characterise the song as having simple yet not simplistic lyrics (which is what I think they need if they're going for the mass communication thing).

I'm a sucker for strings, so that won me over, and though I'm not a fan of brass that element was not too overdone.

I loved the solo a lot. I really could have done without the Nicky Wire interjection, I think it smacked of YLAINE regurgitation in a bad way (as opposed to the 'it's never enough' line which smacked of YLAINE regurgitation in a good way for me!).

I think the production sounds good, as far as one can tell from a radio play with all the radio weirdness* applied. It's a shame about the horrible edit 25 seconds in... (nah, only joking )

I think more than being bowled over by the track itself I am encouraged for the album.

*technical term.
