It's incredible how the delivery of that line is the most abba-esque moment in a song that has that piano part.

I'm liking the scruffy look
Really like the song. Prefer it to Orwellian, chorus is a bit of an earworm

Great song as a single. Really liked it on first listening, and enjoying even more with each subsequent hearing.

I liked Orwellian, but am growing to love the new one. Definitely echoes of the Lifeblood/Futurology eras, and I look forward to the full album in a few weeks.

PS Still enjoying the hell out of 'Even in Exile' one year on.

I’m trying to work out what the chorus reminds me of. Best guess so far is So Macho by Sinitta

Best duet since Your Love Alone. Arguably best "single" since Your Love Alone as well.

Forgot to nosey on here the other day, oops. I’ve only listened to it a couple of times so far, yet woke up with it in my head this morning so I guess that’s a good sign! I think I prefer it to Orwellian.

Also good for James embracing the messy hair…it feels very on brand for the times we’re living in tbh

Good call. I get vibes of ‘Falling in Love Again’ e.g. https://youtu.be/Ky7FAtZDVp4

I’d have thought the South Park style BVs on ‘Slash’n’Burn’ were enough to get his mic taken away indefinitely.

This song has really grown on me now after initially liking it I now love it.
I'm even warming to the video.

I'm still not getting any lifeblood vibes though.
James voice was so clear on lifeblood and hear it's definitely not as audible. And the music really doesn't sound like anything from Lifeblood to me.

Absolutely love it, as instant as it was for Your Love Alone. Sounds like a cross between Waterloo and The Piper from the Super Trouper album and that is just right up my street of melancholia. James and Julia's voice go really well together, very similar to The Anchoress, so wouldn't be surprised if she joined them for it on the tour.

With the 2 singles so far and the clip of Complicated Illusions on Instagram very excited for this now.

i don't seem to be warming to this song as much as some... it's perfectly pleasant, don't get me wrong, but for me it just passes me by when it's on and leaves no taste behind once it's gone.

best bit for me are the little Muse-like keyboard wiggles over the closing 15-20 seconds, would've liked to have heard more of that type of thing through the song.
