Cardiff Half Marathon postponed from October. Would’ve expected summat like that, outdoors and spread over miles to be more likely to go ahead than these gigs in October.. urgh

Bearing in mind the troubles that Parkrun has had to get restarted it doesn't surprise me that big road races are being rearranged.

Announcement about restrictions in Wales is due tomorrow:

Crossing fingers for restrictions to be eased so these gigs can go ahead!

Do we think they'll do some kind of vaccine 'passport' for this event? Negative test or two jabs proof? Searching on the Welsh guidelines isn't helping me although it says big events can take place post August 7th

I could see them asking for proof of vaccination, if anything.

Maybe some kind of temperature check at the door, too?

My guess is it will be the same as for the Gorillaz NHS show at the O2:

"The O2 arena requires you to present a NHS COVID Pass on entry to gain access to this event.

The NHS COVID Pass is a certificate that demonstrates that you have at least one of the following:

• You have completed a full course of vaccination at least 14 days ago

• You have received a negative PCR or lateral flow test result within 36 hours of the event

• You have proof of natural immunity by way of a positive PCR test at least 180 days ago"

So I've decided that there's no way I'll be able to get to rescheduled date... Ticketmaster says for rescheduled dates you can't claim a refund only put them up for resale.... but (unlike other rescheduled concerts I've got booked) I can't put them up for sale. There does seem to be resale tickets on sale though. Any idea if this is a temporary glitch or what's going on?

It's ridiculous that ticket agencies are allowed to refuse refunds when gigs are re-schedulded. You book tickets on the dates you can attend.
Theatres take returns. Ticket agencies should be forced to do the same.

So just in case anyone is wondering what it's like to go to an NHS staff, vaccine-passport-requiring gig, here's what happened at Gorillaz. I couldn't get the NHS app to work so I approached an O2 staff member and explained this and showed him my vaccine card which is in my phone case. He said that was fine and asked for my ticket. As I was pulling up the AXS app for my ticket I indicated towards my Blue Light Card which was also in my phone case, but he didn't really seem bothered. They didn't ask for any other proof of either vaccine or NHS staff status. No idea if it'll be like this in Cardiff but it was remarkably stress free!

(Gorillaz were amazing by the way - here's a sneaky link to my blog post about it if you're interested )

So indoor gigs have started happening in Wales as far as I can see but nothing on this scale. Feels a bit close now to be changed again so I’ve taken the risk of hotel and train tickets. Fingers crossed.

Looking at the schedule on the Cardiff Arena website the Specials are playing there on the 10th of September, with McFly and Elbow playing in the week between then and the Manics gig.

Yeah I saw that. Hopefully won’t be long to hear as the Specials gig surely would have been called off before 16 days or so notice if it was going to be.

Hi all
Will the venue still insist on mask wearing inside the arena? I have emailed them but haven’t had a response. Basically we are in the disabled area Row A balcony and want to be safe.
Still a bit unsure about attending tbh.
Cheers

I was wondering this myself. I will be standing but I'll take a mask and wear it in there if need be, even take my card as proof of vaccination if they require it.
