Rather spookily Charlie Brooker has just tweeted this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Y2EF...ature=youtu.be

Maybe he's a closet Manics fan and wanted to get in on the debate

Yes, I'd like to think that he often thinks of lines and is just dotting them down, or talks in lines like this Godfather one.

This is probably is going to be a line from the album though, unless James sneaked it out without Wire knowing or remembering - how did it bypass James' Piffle Restriction?

i second that. I've like all the lines he's quoted up until now but that one should have been scraped...horrendous simile.

Exactly. I, for one, am gagging for this album.

Sometimes good songs have crap lyrics.

True, but I'm not criticising the song.

Sounds like another of those slightly ironic lyrics, in the same style that went over many peoples heads on SATT. I am intrigued to hear it, if indeed it is a lyric.

Over our heads!?! Quirkiness and in-jokes don't age well as far as writing is concerned. Neither do they touch many people as Nicky often claims is his goal - 'touch as many people as you can' he said, when someone suggested they'd sold out. I'd agree with him but the material on SATT is incredibly wide of the mark.

Does the real Charlie Brooker have a twitter account? If so which is it?

This discussion about lyrics tells me how much I don't pay attention to *every single line* in Manics lyrics. I didn't notice the Carlito's Way line.

And guess who hasn't even seen the film despite having the album since '98?

Neither have I. Clearly I'm not a true Manics fan

Like Carlito's Way, there are no exit signs. From Black Dog on My Shoulder.

Don't worry it's just Pacino doing his 'Look at me everybody I act better than these guys; look I even walk in an interesting way and if anyone else has an interesting line I SHOUT MUTHERFUCKER!'

Except for the scene with Viggo Mortensen; stolen thunder.
