I would quite like to know when Futurology will be released, but it's only really so I can decide whether to spend the HMV voucher that I got for Christmas on something else.

I'm not worried really, we had the (nearly) 2 year gap with nothing and we were fine and this time we know there's a tour coming up so it's not like we're left with nothing!

Being critical about something is not the same as feeling entitled to something. All he's saying is that the build up to the new album and tour has been shite. Which so far it has been. What's wrong with that?

Do you know when it is coming out? If not, it's not a bit presumptuous to talk about the pre release schedule/marketing isn't it? I haven't even been following the progress and I know it has a tentative release date (at best) of May. There is such a thing as "peaking too soon" with these things, and 3 and a half months before the album is no time to be doing that. If the date isn't confirmed then you can imagine it will be pushed back a tad. Hold on to your pants and listen to something else for a bit.

I actually don't mind this. Of course I'm always excited for new Manics news, but it's loads better than a lot of bands/artists and their managements, posting things like "ONE MORE DAY...watch twitter for a surprise update!" "Just three sleeps to go until a VERY BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!" and then it all turns out to be nothing. Plus, even though it's ridiculous, I quite like the insights into Wire's mind (a scary place indeed) on his twitter feed. We'll hear the news when it's ready!

Yeah I'll take a bit of mystery over the whole Arcade Fire approach to promoting 'Reflektor'. That got a little bit needy after a while.

Not wanting to divert the thread, but I like Reflektor...

If we've learnt anything in recent years with regards to record promotion though, it is that less is more. Just ask Bowie and Beyonce.

I loved it, probably my favourite of their albums.

As suggested earlier... there are other bands.

There are other bands but they're not as important to me as the Manics.

well at least it's not another 2 year break. Two albums within a year is pretty good!

I look forward to the 'GIANT RANT' thread when they take their next break!

It is just over a week until the first gig of the tour and I've got to say the lack of news/updates/info is almost deafening. Apart from a few tidbits on Facebook relating to what they have been rehearsing and confirmed support bands, we have had nothing. Normally, I would have expected to hear of them appearing on the radio, in magazines etc talking about the forthcoming UK tour, the new album, summer festival appearances, 6 Nations banter, yadda yadda. For what is supposed to be an April/May release they are leaving it very late to start promoting the tour/album.

At last someone that agrees with me! The lack of any promotion for this album is startling.
