I had a friend recommend that I go to Geno's to get a philly cheesesteak. googlemaps says that it's only 3.5 miles or so away. sounds delish.

this gig is finally starting to weigh in with full gravity. every day the anticipation/excited anxiety heightens

kinda reminds of the tension building in jurassic park when the glass of water starts rippling ... I know something epic is going to happen

Tell me about it! I can't believe I'm flying out next Sunday, and then comes Philly and New York! The excitement is reaching epic proportions.

I have to drive from Baltimore and I don't get out of work until 1, so I'll probably get there between 4 and 5. I'd ideally like to go out to dinner beforehand (I'm meeting a few old friends) but will there be a huge line going early? I do want to get a good spot, and I think I'd pick MSP over food which is saying a lot for me.
Its not a very big venue. You're gonna have a good spot wherever you are.

I'd say you should go to Pat's (it's across from Geno's) for that cheesesteak. There are other places in Philly where you could get a cheesesteak, of course, but Geno's and Pat's are by far the most famous. There's a huge rivalry that goes back years and years between the two.

Which one is the one with all of the "speak English or get out," etc, signs? They are so similar looking I can never remember.

My sister and I are thinking of making t-shirts, in the whole spirit of dyi.
Anyone else doing the same or wearing one you've made before?

So my friend and I just got back from the venue. We wanted to scope it out (she is seeing another show a week after the Manics), and they were have a 5-year anniversary celebration, so we decided to go.

The parking situation: there is metered parking on the streets, but from what I saw, there wasn't any parking that would stay legal throughout the whole show. There was, however, a small lot underneath the venue, on 31st street (from Walnut, turn right onto 33rd street, make a right onto Chestnut, and then there is a sign pointing to to the parking area on 31st). This lot, however, only becomes parking for the venue after 5:30 PM. Soo I'm having a bit of a conundrum, since I was planning on showing up at around 3 to queue

Could you park at a meter when you get there at 3, and then someone could hold your place in the queue so you can move your car to the car park under the venue at 5.30?

I suppose you could. I'm going alone so hopefully there are nice enough people around me on line. I'm sure there will be

There will be! My friend has to leave the line to come pick me up around 5:15 and hopefully someone will repay the favor and hold her spot in queue as well! I'm sure we can all help each other out that day!
