Not songs from the two albums, but the actual music track from one song (right down to individual instruments) mixed with the vocal track from another.

Saw this today in a charity shop, of course it made me think of the Manics straight away: http://www.amazon.co.uk/John-Difool-...dp/273161210X/

Also, I found a US tape of GATS in a charity shop today. It's rare finding cassettes at all today nevermind something like this. Anyway I bought, despite already having it...

You'd need to use one of those plugins that sends the left and right channels out of phase so it (just about) removes the vocals from one. I'm not sure if you can do the reverse. Be sure to use a DAW for this.
Entirely clear isolation of actual instruments is nigh on impossible without stem files, but you can get alright separation of some instruments with not too much bleedthrough with some plugins/programs. Hit 'n' Mix is one that comes to mind.

Thanks. All this sounds far beyond my embarrassingly limited technical expertise, alas. Does anyone else fancy producing a mash-up of TGW and IKTZ?

I would do it if I had the time, but I don't. Sorry! Porco, maybe?

I'd settle for just one mash-up... an anniversary track?

Found a Buzzfeed article:

10-Year-Old Boy Questioned By Police Over “Terrorist House” Spelling Error
So THIS is why the USA cannot have so many Manics fans....!

Jokes apart, (also because this happened in England, which makes the issue a bit more serious) this part of the article:

Quote:
Under the Prevent duty, which became statutory last year, schools and colleges are required to report any signs of radical extremism to the government’s official de-radicalisation programme, known as Channel.
Last October, a freedom of information request revealed 1,355 people under the age of 18 were referred to the programme, including a 14-year-old boy who talked about “eco-terrorism” in a French lesson.
Channel forms one part of the government’s Prevent strategy, which is designed to stop people becoming violent or non-violent extremists.
This is seriously more frightening than any ISIS bombing or threats! And, sadly, I'm not exaggerating....

Uhm, went a little off-topic here.

Urgh, people. I'm just happy to see em, rarities are a bonus not an entitlement. Probably get accused of sour grapes but people really should appreciate how lucky they are to get to these things. Consider meself lucky for the ones we've been to, too. King Tuts, Night And Day, Rough Trade what the hell. Combined turnout of what, 700? Hardly any sod at Night And Day. Even of that 700 bet it's only about 500 different people.
