City Album - Where are we now?

Long ago, in the misty past, just before they decided to release Lifeblod, the Manics teased an album based on cities. Cardiff Afterline came from this concept, and another title teased was Stockholm Alone.

I've been out of the loop a while. Which of those tracks have since been released, retooled etc, to the collective hive mind knowledge of FD?

--

Speculating wildly apropos of nothing, here's a city (and assorted other locations) album, steering heavily toward an partly instrumental tour of Wales for the final quarter:

1. Still Snowing In Sapporo
2. The Next Jet To Leave Moscow
3. Liverpool Revisited
4. (I Miss The) Tokyo Skyline
5. The Last Time I Saw Paris
6. Ballad of the Bangkok Novotel
7. Dreaming a City (Hugheskova)
8. Hazleton Avenue
9. Askew Road
10. Caldey
11. Manorbier
12. The View From Stow Hill
13. Cardiff Afterlife

I was thinking about this the other day - some of my favorite of their recent output has been the city based tracks

I have to say, in the event of this City Album actually becoming a reality I'd be offended if Wire wouldn't write a Helsinki-inspired, mildly biblical and strongly self-deprecating lament – after all Helsinki is the place where they walked on water for the first time, not to mention all that HEL(L) and SIN practically writing itself

Dublin Lag, Stockholm Alone and Leeches Over Havana were proposed songs mentioned in an Interview way back when

Nice, thanks for the other tracks and the link! I remembered Leeches Over Havana as a "maggots" one but thought it was something to do with Bangkok...

Now that I mention that, Ballad of the Bangkok Novotel should've been on my list.

Is it too much to hope that one day we get a Manics track called Llanfair_pwllgwyngyll_gogery_chwyrn_drobwll_llan_t ysilio_gogo_goch?

The way I see it, if they refuse to die (and here at album 14, they really do seem to be refusing to) they'll eventually have to have every word, location, name and number in every language as a song title. So here's hoping...

I’m pretty sure they mentioned at the time that there was a confirmed Tokyo song too, which I imagine became Tokyo Skyline much later down the line. But not sure if that’s my memory playing tricks at this stage.

I vaguely recollect Liverpool being mentioned as well, hence Liverpool Revisited I assume.

You mean it isn't 25 mins already? It seems longer...

Thanks for some excellent additions
