I guess, if you like them...though it's a slippery completist slope.

I'm as surprised as disappointed about the lack of proper singles now, given how nostalgic they are at times and that they're keen collectors themselves. Kind of odd that they've done gigs, signings and special deals for record shops, often mentioning Spillers, yet they did the iTunes festival a few years ago and Apple are killing record shops.

Surprised and slightly relieved that they've not got on board with the Record Store Day stuff yet, if they do I'll have to either be prepared to camp out or pay something stupid on eBay.

Urgh, right you are there. I do have a bit of a soft spot for promos, Motorcycle Emptiness I think being the silliest one. For that I've got promos from UK, Germany, Spain, Japan and EU over cd and vinyl. Very silly, I used to think ah I'm not bothered about this or that but now I'm not sure there's a line anymore.

Radio edits and alternative artwork are always good to have.

I loved getting promo singles.... especially if there was no CD-single release.

However the last one I got was Indian Summer.
I got completeley turned off when they started releasing singles in that card-sleeve cut-off paper with the plastic sleeve. generic shit.

Yeah, not a massive fan of these paper fold over things, could make em yourself. This Is The Day is in a proper card sleeve though so you probably need that

I'll have to check!!) other than that I have a complete set... Oh and a promo CD for the single of PFAYM, would love to find that little bugger!
I guess it is just another completist's thing though really, but I like them!
I bloody love promos. The only Sony era UK singles I don't have at least one promo are Life Becoming A Landslide (not sure anything actually exists besides maybe Hit Factory/Whitfield St master stuff) and Anthem For A Lost Cause. Oh and Futurology album promo, haven't got one of those yet...

The latest batch don't even have the instrumental versions on, what a scandal.

Yeah, I don't blame the band though, I'd love em to fuck Sony off and do their own thing.

true. i mean they may have some input but it's ultimately the label's decision.
though it's not THAT much better elsewhere...

at least with the show me the wonder 7"s i hoped that'd continue but nope.

Yeah, as a collector and knowing that they themselves are pretty keen collectors I find it pretty sad, I'm sure they'd still be clutching to the physical single for dear life if it were purely up to them. Give it a few more years and they'll have to change A Design For Life from "Libraries gave us power" to "Kindles gave us power".
