Started listening to it the other day properly. i quite like it actually, even though there's some awkward/lazy bits. i really like the music & lyrics, the vocals are ok. pity some of the songs arent manics songs.

Yes, I listened to it the other day. It's still definately better than the rather bland 'Great Western' and I probably like it more than 'Tigers' as well.

Had it on over the weekend. Still works for me. Still puts a smile on my face seeing that pissed off HMV employee when I bought it. Still think Send Away The Tigers is better, but the image of Nicky Wire as a coach on The X Factor for the winning groups is too good to ignore!

I'm very naughty, I only really listen to Kimono Rock and Withdraw/Retreat for obvious reasons. Being a Jamesy Girl and all!

I listened to So Much For The Future earlier, round my friends house.

She said it sounded like a terrible national anthem, and we fell about laughing - then put something else on.

I can't get on with it at all - think it's his voice. Give me TGW anyday.

I have it on my mp3 player and listen to it all the time.In fact its probably grown on me if anything.I didnt like James's album then and i dont really like it now.It just seems pretty dull and nothing he couldnt have done with the band anyway.

The Great Western is fucking awesome! Nicky's vocals grate on me after a while. I wish James had sung The Long Goodbye.

James is Nicky's biggest fan though - he was encouraging him to make a solo album way back in 1998 - thats got to pre-date any of us by a good six years

It's on the last ever ITV chart show interview though I think, if I recall Nicky just laughed it off at the time but I'm sure James describes his voice as sexy/Lou Reed-esque or something. And its James who brings it up in that Japanesse interview from 2005 as well.

Fair enough. I personally am not mad on Nickys singing abilities.

When I heard the title track i thought *oh christ no* and it put me off getting the album for ages. Thats probably the worst vocal on there and they seem to improve as the album goes on. Maybe its just me ears getting used to it.

Although I adored TGW when i first got it, musically I think prefer Nicky's now.

No, the worst vocal is so much for the future, hands down.
