Worst Manics b side

Well looks like we have a new winner with the embarrassingly bad "Engage With Your Shadow"

Thoughts?

All the b-sides I have I actually really enjoy! If I had to pick one... maybe Dead Yanke Drawl. Never really got into it.

That live version of Motown Junk, but only because of the inclusion of Sweet Home Alabama. Fucking hate that song.

I loathe 'Groundhog Days' so that gets my vote.

I like 'Engage with Your Shadow'. It's a cheerfully loopy track with some interesting ideas. They may not always work but they're still interesting. Nice to see dissonant guitar noises back in the mix.

Depends on what you would classify as truly bad. Sure, EWYS and FB are pure experiments so I can't really class them as terrible "songs". If you're looking for b-sides that truly grate then I would choose the following:

Pedastal (crap chorus, too long, over use of chorus)
Askew Road ( great lyrics - dull as wishwater music)
Slow Reflections/Strange Delays (a song that goes absolutely nowhere melodically)
Socialist Serenade (truly awful chorus)
Little Girl Lost (starts well and then it's like..."oh, it's finished".

Valley Boy. The most boring song they have ever done.

I really enjoy the Lifeblood b-sides!
Antarctic, Askew Road, All Alone Here, Everything Will Be and, No Jubilees are great.
Though Failure Bound is a bit shit.

Oh, and StarBright, I agree with you Pedestal and Little Girl Lost.

Failure Bound overall, Been a Son for a cover, but All Alone Here if it has to be a real one.

Not heard any PFAYM b-sides but pretty much every song on the record is worse than any of the above, so I don't hold out much hope.

I like pretty much everything mentioned in this thread so far except Socialist Serenade, so that gets my vote for now, until I think of something else

Worst cover on a b-side or worst original b-side?

"Moning Comrades" is a bit of a chore to sit through.
"1404" is the b-side that should have been turned into a full band recording. Even if Dave Eringa ordered James to put a bass line down over it?
I'm not sure when I'll get the new single? There's nothing in my account, my nephew's birthday is the bigger priority and I can't even rely on You Tube loading up to hear when the b-sides go online.
Apart from that though, I'm still enjoying the album.
