I think nearly everyone on this forum can predict the entire Set List easily with maybe a 1 or 2 errors, I mean truth be told the 80's Rock acts are like today's crowds of the last 15 yrs, just boring dead statues at gigs with no interaction to the music.
GNR last year was a crowd worthy to be in Hospital Beds. Moshing is like a pastime, I know we're all getting older but you can still enjoy it. |

if someone chooses to just stand and watch a gig (or sit) doesn't mean they're not enjoying it.

Okay, good question which can be answered quite quickly in general terms but might need to be more detailed for complete satisfaction. Generally speaking, I like the post-Richey stuff rather than the with-Richey stuff. I think they have clearly mellowed, for want of a better word, and if they hadn't, I doubt I would enjoy their music as much as I do now. For example, if I were to pick out an Ultimate Manics Gig set list for a bit of fun, there would be one from GT (Motorcycle Emptiness), one from GATS (La Tristesse), one from THB (This Is Yesterday) and the rest would then be from the more modern albums. Some of their stuff I've never listened to at all (Lifeblood and JFPL) and maybe never will..... It was the albums of the late nineties that drew me in for sure. Yet a combination of work, four kids and a lack of money have restricted my opportunities to go and see them. Whether the fact that I have a little more money these days has helped me see them what will be three times in five years is a moot point but I certainly enjoy their music these days. I'm the same age as the boys so I've probably mellowed with them a little too which helps.... TL;DR - the Manics have changed into something I find far easier to listen to and enjoy. Long may it last...

I mean you might hate it, but those who love it (like me) tend to really love it. In fact I'm going to to go listen to it again right now.

Not gonna pretend otherwise. Red Dead Redemption 2 has got me in the mood for some of this.

Also the game's initials are an anagram of R2D2, which I hope I've already established has a solid, festive link to Bon Jovi.

Sambora is a great guitarist. Very underrated and it's a shame he's associated with a band who base their songs around the various ways you can get 'dry, why, try, lie and die' to rhyme'.
Understand why some of their stuff appeals though. They always produce terrific melodies and that would not be lost on James. The one time Jon Bon was challenged with writing a song about a story with some depth was when he wrote perhaps his best song, Blaze of Glory. If only he had something more to write about, because he certainly has the talent to do quality stuff, he just hasn't had much of a purpose besides getting girls to go to his gigs. |

Come back when the MSP can write a Christmas song with as much sheer raunch as this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mput_1lVYus

Please don't let them write a Christmas song
Who cares what fans think of Bon Jovi they can bring an audience to the Manics that quite clearly won't be filled with already Manics fans and so the result can only be good. Hopefully. Livin' on a Prayer's not bad and I have a genuine love of Wild is the Wind. That be it like but did once carry a poster of Jon Bon on me wall...alongside George Michael. Obviously. Ah the Manics are no bad fit - the na na naaaahs in Hold Me Like a Heaven will find their true home in a Bon Jovi stadium
