you know i know there shall always be the apologists, the excusers, the "this is what they actually meant by that statement" and of course the gutlesswondering about certain releases, but FFS come on - this is a band that have been making bullshit statements about "the future" since day one; "split up after the debut" and all that.

if they want to do a gig or something, then fucking do one - great for the band, great for the fans. anyone genuinely saying "oh well, i could go to this but they said they wouldn't be one one so i am not going to prove a point" is perhaps otherwise engaged anyway taking a razor to their nose.

and what better way for Sean Moore to make his lead vocal debut? he's about the same height as Midge Ure, isn't he? it would be a piece of piss for Sean to grow a moustache like the one Midge had in the video too, i reckon.

Thank you. Isn't the Manics' Fan's Motto "Always do the opposite of what Nicky Wire says?" LOL. We're still not going to see a new album for like two years anyway, so I don't get what the big deal is with them touring, when the band themselves said they would be doing non-UK shows.

Then a gig in Vienna wouldn't be the thing. They would play Japan again.

I've not heard much about this festival, but if you haven't been to Vienna, then it would be nice holiday. With Bratislava nearby, it's a lovely part of the world and well worth the trip. I'm not sure i could stand a festival over there at that time of the year though. Fierce heat!

Who's talking about a festival? The "Arena" is mainly an indoor venue and although they also have outdoors stage & capacity the gig will certainly be indoors.

I understand if people are pissed who bought a ticket for Wembley (and maybe did even travel there from abroad) on the grounds that it was the last gig for a while but so far you have the bonus that they only played all of their singles there, so it should still have been a one-off, special occasion.
Vienna will probably "just" be their standard greatest hits setlist, so weep not!

Do not mock me!

Vienna eh? Nice! Will they be having pretty girls in flowing dresses skipping about the stage whilst Sean does his percussion version of 'The Blue Danube'?

A thread announcing Manics gig full of angry fans?

I'm not going, but they did say they weren't going to do UK gigs, they still need to earn money to pay for all those nappies/garish eye makeup/guns'n'ammo/tax bills.

I'm obviously not with it tonight (and possibly quite hungry), I misread the thread as Manics play Viennettas.
