The Manics must be the least business focused band I've come across. I mean they work hard with making the music and do that very well but when it comes to promotion, their live shows (which aren't much of a spectacle) and products (overpriced deluxe shoeboxes and lack of concert DVDs) it shows that they are either ill-advised or they don't realise there is actually a market out there.

It'd be nice for it to be released, but given the lack of bonus content on any of the last few releases it might be a bit...crap. Even a long documentary would do, even an extra of the BBC's Close Up from 1998 would be quite cool/

The last two officially released DVDs (apart from the ones in box sets) have been the FD DVDs and the NT DVDs, a collection of music videos. No notable extras, and you're right, a documentary would be a worthy addition. I can't see No Manifesto getting an authorised band release because if it was to come out, then the SATT era would have been perfect.

If the band aren't going to tape this gig, then I am sure there are enough of us on this forum that could cobble together enough bootleg audio and multi-angle video footage to put our own thing together. I bet it would be better than any effort by a certain P. Jones as well!

The other two DVD releases weren't really brimming with extras either - Leaving the 20th Century had two live-in-studio songs and Louder Than War had the rest of the gig shot in terrible quality.

Louder Than War had some extended hidden extras including that radio interview

True, yeah. Shame though that they had made such a faffle out of accessing all that.

Sadly the event wasn't recorded, so that won't be happening.

No chance, because the cameras were only filming for the big screens in the arena, and not being taped. It's like Queen fans thinking that their last gig at Knebworth 1986 was filmed when it was only filmed for the screens on the day.... all because they "forgot to push the record button". Then again, MSP didn't want to tape it, probably because they were advised against it by the idiots that manage them.

I've heard the bootleg and I can see why they didn't want to record it. Some songs were quite boring..

I have to agree with FacelessSenseOfVoid on this point. The management for the Manics make poor decisions when it comes to filming gigs expecially a gig as amazing as the 02 arena one. I don't harbour any hope in the slightest of NM getting a release from the management because you have to really ask yourself if there is enough serious interest in the band in 2012 for a film based on 2007-2009. Having said that, I'd rather get another album of new material than wait around for a fan-film to be released or a dvd of the O2 gig.

They weren't really live, and they wouldn't have to show every song anyway, if they felt that. You can't really gauge how exciting a song is with just an audio.

No Manifesto has nothing to do with the management or the band directly though, it's simply a question of being able to afford the rights...so it will (hopefully) come out eventually and do well.

Maybe not directly but I am sure the record label itself would surely warrant it's release if they felt it was going to provide further exposure for the band and make them profit?

I don't really know what you mean by warrant its release though? It's an independent film, it's not the label's to release or not.
