Drug Drug Druggy is a random one I didn't see happening ever. I'd love to hear Yourself played live but I doubt they could do many of the songs from GATS full justice nowadays. I imagine the 'box set' will be released in something like May time. Hope a bit more effort goes into it than the somewhat lacklustre Truth 20th anniversary.

It’s an intentional pun, not a mistake.

The Manics have always included covers in their live set; Guns & Roses' "It's So Easy", McCarthy's "Charles Windsor", The Clash's "What's My Name", Happy Mondays' "Wrote For Luck". On this tour they have controversially, chosen to reinterpret Nirvana's "Pennyroyal Tea". It is certain to provoke further worthless pontificating on the dangerous parallels which have already been drawn in some quarters between "The Holy Bible" and "In Utero" in terms of it being Richey's swansong.

"I think that we perhaps interpreted the song in a different way. It was to do with an old abortion potion, but the way we took it was like a pun on Penny Royalty (Monarchy) because that's the way we've been forced to look at ourselves at times. Also, I just got fed up with bands like Primal Scream using buzz words like passion, soul, integrity... To find those feelings you've got to go down to the deep fried South of America. We're not from the South, we're white liberal angst proffers. We've put a bit more into that cover than others we've done. We thought we'd pick something a bit more contemporary, something that's a bit more relevant to us in its essence. "We've always done covers. When we first started the axis was on Guns & Roses and Public Enemy because they stood for two very definite lifestyles. If you look at our lyrics there are songs like "Repeat" which contain sentiments which are common to a lot of our audience as well as us as a band. Then there's the flipside of songs like "Yes" which people can understand but don't really share much empathy with. That's crucial when I'm writing songs - to understand but not necessarily accept. That causes a certain kind of tension. There was always that flipside - the universal suffrage. For me a song like "It's So Easy" is entertaining to understand and accept. It's a cabaret kind of thing to exist on that level for just three minutes and throw it away. With all the poe faced poses and hot air that we've expounded over the last few years, I've always hoped that at least we were quite an entertaining band live."
‘Preaching To The Converted’ (Sun Zoom Spark), Hector Prole interviewing JDB in 1994.

You had one job Amazon!!
Although if it's a cover for the GATS reissue then surely "Commemoration And Amnesia" would make a better distraction? (Nah! That was alright. Have it on tape. Somewhere. Taped off someone else. Ahem.)

Well, if Suede can do a 24th anniversary tour of Coming Up, then there's no reason the Manics can't do a 27th anniversary tour of GATS! Come on boys! Announce it already!

I think the Record Store Day list of releases is revealed on 5th March. One to watch for GATS re-issue I reckon.....

Although a few people are doing it these days - notably a couple of Bowie releases this year - CDs on RSD are still few and far between, and I can't imagine they'll do the LP version as a RSD limited if the CD is a standard release, so I think we'll be waiting a bit longer yet.

If the remaster was done in December, the turnaround time for vinyl pressings these days is often 2-3 months, add on a couple of months promo time and I doubt we'll seeing a release until at least May.

I would love to be proved wrong, though!

I can’t see a re-issued album being a RSD day thing, but who knows. Maybe they’ll do one (or two) of the singles for RSD partly as promo for the re-issued album.

Woop, the tweet got me to log in again! I really need to keep up with this place, never realised there were all these rumours and hints flying around for so long.

I'm really glad if this is real because it means they won't be doing what I feared they would and ignore their less canonical albums. So maybe we'll get a KYE reissue too one day... !

I'm sure the formatting will be once again completely out of sync with any other reissue they've made but hoping we get the b-sides as part of the more regular versions, anything else is a bonus.

Place your bets now on which album track they've removed and replaced with Donkeys or something.
