I used to be late for school all the time from buying loads of music on the day of release.

Really love Robeson. Makes me feel a bit tearful for some reason!

To be honest, KYE is no way as bad as everyone makes out at all. OK, maybe there's no smash hit singles on there perhaps but album track wise it's pretty solid through and through and I'm enjoying this track by track again. On #10 His Last Painting, which has always been one of my favourites.

I remember clearly the first time I played it - I'd picked it up just before I went on an hour's drive. Halfway through the opening track & I was doing around 90 mph & thinking that this was going to be the best MSP album ever. I tend to ignore critics reviews in the press as 50% is based upon what they consider to be fashionable, but I was excited by (I think) Nicky's pre-release comments re a return to punkier roots.

By the time I'd gone through So Why So Sad, Wattsville Blues & M*ss Eur*pa D**co D**cer (I can't bear to type the name even today) I felt really deflated to the point that I never played the last 75% of the LP for many years.

When the official web site put up a video of them rehearsing Freedom Of Speech a few years ago I had no idea that I'd ever heard it before but it sounded great & made me re-visit the album. I had the Japanese version which had the superb Just A Kid & Masses as the bonus tracks & it slowly started to grow on me.

My fav track from it now is His Last Painting (though I'm probably alone). To me it's still possibly my least favourite LP after GT. I loved GT at the time but to my ears it hasn't aged as well & would have been better as a single LP (like in the US), but anyway, Happy Birthday KYE.

Wow, this album is actually really well put together. Good tracklisting.
