Glastonbury 2014

Note question mark.

After having been heavily rumoured to be playing Glastonbury, possibly a full Holy Bible set, Manics have today moved to 'TBC' status on eFestivals rumours page.

TBC is above 'strong rumour' and normally reserved for bands that self-confirm and are understood to be 'happening'. The only thing that remains at that stage is appearing on the official lineup announcement.

http://www.efestivals.co.uk/festival...4/lineup.shtml

Fucking awesome news if true.

Why would they play a fully Holy Bible set at Glastonbury? Makes no sense.

Wonder if they are going to go through with this full THB set after all then!

Don't see why they would play THB in full at Glasto? Most of the people watching will probably not have heard THB and so will be a poor atmosphere. They should do a big one off show at Wembley Arena perhaps and play the album and play some other hits aswell.

I'd love it if they would do this, just to piss off the sort of people that wouldn't go to watch any other acts.

According to eFestivals, the rumour/TBC (of them playing, not specifically what) comes from a chance encounter with the band themselves.

If they are going to do a full THB Set, they can, at the very least put it on Telly!

I can't imagine it though. Festivals are for greatest hits sets.

That's an awful, awful idea. Why release a new album only to play an album from 1994 in full at Glastonbury? MOVE ON, Manics!

Exactly. Is there some reason everyone's speculating about this, other than the anniversary?

If they were ever going to play it in full, I expect it would've happened around the remaster...

Nicky said that he would love to play it in full at Glastonbury in an interview not long back. Still can't see it happening!

In other festival news, when I had an email from Reading about the first headliner the other day, there was a link to the Manics new tour dates beneath the main headline saying that "our friends" The Manics are playing in Leeds Arena... Does this mean that they are a good shout for Reading & Leeds?

Oh nicky. There's really nothing to stop them doing it at any of the bazillion festivals they've played over the last 20 years, except at every one (with the possible exception of the handful in 2003) they have played greatest hits sets. Same with their tour dates...not sure I can see it.

Reading in 2001 or whenever it was was quite a cool setlist. Hits, yes, but also lots of new album and lots of weird stuff like It's So Easy and Archives of Pain. They could do something similarly daring again.

As for Glastonbury as a venue for THB - I can think of nowhere I'd rather hear them play it (other than the Astoria, which is currently scattered on some landfill) or perhaps Brixton
