It'll be a 3 pager, boxset edition. £200 and the first few limited edition orders get a free Manic Street Preachers tampon.

As long as it's well-written, I don't care what the content is. This is Nicky's chance to show that he's a good writer overall, not just someone who writes lyrics. As I mentioned in some other thread, I recall him having written a preface to a book or two before, and I like what I read.

I'd also really like if it focussed more on the non-Richey bits, or at least the non-sad-Richey bits. two reasons 1) as everlasting said, what's it going to say that hasn't been said before? 'we loved him, he left, we were devastated, we got on with things'. that's pretty much the story. and 2) it feels a little weird to me that the Nicky and the other two are around to decide/control what gets said about them, and Richey isn't. a journalist investigating his life is one thing but it just feels odd, I guess, to be thinking about hearing personal stories about someone who isn't here to consent to whether or not they get told.

plus, amusing tour stories and talk about the fantastic photographers they've gotten to work with and hearing about making the albums are all going to be a lot more fun to read

Small mention that a recent edition of MOJO mentioned the 2nd book briefly and described it as being Wire's 'life story', as opposed to a 'band biography'. Whether or not that's just a phrase they've used willy-nilly I don't know, but could potentially mean a slightly different slant to the book.

It could be! When Nicky was first talking about it, he mentioned starting it when the band started, claiming a story about his childhood would be too boring. But we know he likes to change his mind heh.

If it's Wire's life story, it should be worth reading for the rants and hoovering anecdotes alone. However, I'd be more interested in reading what Sean had to say (probably "fuck off" as usual), but that's never going to happen.

A think it could be a collection of the bands lyrics and writings that the band have often hinted at plans to one day draw together in book format. I base my case on their decision to release Journal for Plague Lovers - Richey's final writings on an album....some of which had to be edited a little by Nicky just as when he was around to help them work as lyrics....a book would be their chance to compile all lyrics and scribblings and writings....a definitive bible if you like of the thoughts of Chairman Manic.

Also Faber have recently published a collection of Jarvis Cocker's lyrics and commentary...Mother Brother Lover....aaand Jarvis has become editor-at-large....let loose on commissioning a small number of music related titles for Faber - working closely with editor Lee Brackstone who i believe looks after Nicky

And with that I rest my case

And hope I'm right cos that I would buy....whereas a deluxe photograhic collection of Nicky's hoovers through the years with a special edition featuring a free signed by Nicky pink feather duster....I wouldn't.
