I think the titles are fine. The songs will make or break them!

Also... just had to say that the Klaxons didn't spell it with a 'K' to be hip.
Golden Skans is the name given to a type of light used on stages in theaters etc i believe.

I read that line completely differently.

Isn't he saying that they can't make another album like JFPL without forcing themselves as that sound stemmed from Richeys lyrics where as his lyrics don't lend themselves to that kind of album so to make JFPL 2 (no matter how much certain fans would like it) would be forcing.

So effectively what him and James have said before.

I always got the impression James more than anyone encouraged Nicky to sing if anything.

"It's on the cards that some Manics fans will think Journal was a one-album return," Nicky admits. "But it's wrong to force yourself to be like that - we only did it for Richey's words.
What, good?

I believe most bands do, y'know, try. Perhaps this is where they've been going wrong?

This is true. I seem to recall James praising Nicky for sounding like a cross between Katherine Hepburn and Mark E Smith of The Fall

That's actually what I meant, but it didn't translate as I had planned. However, I do think Wire enjoys taking the lead, but most likely feels inferior to James' immense voice and needs a bit if prodding from Bradders. But yeah, you're right, James is probably the one encouraging him to do lead vocals on certain songs.

That point didn't cost you much, did it?

When they did 'Journal' they said they were able to make it the way it turned out because the lyrics, which are the starting point for their songs, were written by a 27 year old man not a 40 year old who's happily married with two kids. They felt it would be insincere to write music so rough and heavy to lyrics that didn't fit that mood.

So, no. They didn't mean *good*, pretty obviously. And I say that as someone who doesn't want the next album to sound like 'Tigers'.

Fuck Jeff Lynne, like Tony Visconti he is way way past his creative best. They will end up with another weak tosslump like Lifeblood, with a producer that don't give a fuck.

Weak tosslump, contender for a new Manics album title.
