Interesting! Though don't be afraid to approach big Jeff, I'm sure at some Q Awards thing he said he'd do it.

Seriously + 2. Keep in touch on FD until it gets released Richey-heads!
And what an insight into their creative process that "Golden Platitudes" is now "Golden Planets"? ...unless they are two different songs?
"Lean out your window/Golden Planets"? Maybe not like that then?

I agree with this. I love SATT. I (controversial) adore Autumnsong. Rendition gets a 8/10 too.

Thanks for posting!

As we all know this means it won't sound anything like SATT now.

YES!!!

Not that SATT is a bad album but I'd rather not have another one.

The Golden Platitudes/Planet thing is a point, yes: Nicky having lied to us yet again is probably the most likely outcome, it having always been Golden Planets - that and his mention of JG Ballard gave me a thought for The Comsat Angels, not that they'd be any influence.

The thing about the 'A Billion Balconies Facing The Sun' title that grates a bit for me is the 'Billion' - I often cringe at the magnitude of a count like that in a song title or lyric. Such as, is pain really on the scale of one hundred thousand? I'd prefer Three Balconies Facing The Sun.

James saying they'll need B-Sides is a very good point though, so long as they're not digital-only.

My initial thought is concern, but then it's a pre-album interview with Nicky. The end product rarely turns out to be anything resembling what he says. Yes, I'm probably being a tad too hopeful.

'A Billion Balconies Facing The Sun' sounds like a Snow Patrol song. 'Evidence Against Myself' sounds quite intriguing though.

The golden platitudes
When we caved in to fear
The broken attitude
When we let winter get near

High spirits and lost hope
In tall buildings reaching for the sky
Desperate sensations waiting to throw
Themselves to bottomless lies

The world shrugged
And our promises forgot
Every circle ends
And our promises repeat
Meh.

Do you think I should join a Birmingham City FC forum and start a begging thread to get Jeff on board? I tried to get an address for him from UnCut magazine once but they couldn't find anything.

Nicky would love to work with Steve Albini or Jeff Lynn
I'm still not excited, except for the Ballard mention.

Thanks.

Steve Albini producing Nicky's songs and Jeff Lynn producing James' would work. A double album, yes. Then everyone can be happy. Jeff Lynne might even point out to James how predictable his flat three-minute arrangements have become ten albums in and teach him to express himself in more interesting ways instead of writing the same song over and over.

I'm excited by the continued references to Abbey Road, but also fearing another disappointment.

I wonder what SATT would have sounded like if Albini had produced it... definitely no cheesy strings in YLAINE and Autumnsong and Underdogs would have sounded much less ridiculous. If INWJTEOL (!) sounds like SATT produced by Albini, I'll be happy.
