Maybe you could try La tristesse durera, if you explain a little bit about the background of the song. It's not very difficult and the children will like the chorus.

This one would be spot on for my year 10 class as I told them about Poppy Day during our last lesson

(Sometime in the near future... one of the schoolboys has grown up and visited Britain to dine in an expensive restaurant...)

Man: That was a more than satisfactory dinner! Ah, here comes the waiter with my BL!

Is that what you want?
'Cos that's what'll happen?

I've already got a boy who now thinks Nicky is the most common name in English and uses it for all his male characters in his texts!

You should start with a "safe" song like Autumnsong and get more radical by every lesson. By the end of 4th grade your pupils will now who Yeltsin, Zhirinovsky, Le Pen, Hindley, Brady etc. were...

I can imagine them singing PCP at the end-of-year ceremony...

You could do Small Black Flowers and say you wanted to discuss animals in captivity, I suppose? Otherwise I'd go with the La Tristesse Durera suggestion.
