Just saw the article in the nme, I am so excited about this. I would definately have paid for the film and they are just giving it away for free. I can not wait!

I am more excited about this than i was about the reissue

It would be brilliant if they've tracked down some of those Japanese ultra fans from the videos around that time... I wonder what they're up to now

Looking forward to this - the Gold Against the Soul live era seems to be one that there is a lack of live footage of compared to other albums, especially with Evans' comment that they were already performing songs live in the style we now associate with the Holy Bible.

Funny how the materiality of the reissues means very little to me but when I see a video or old concert footage it makes me feel that sense of melancholy for the 90s.

Shall I start the moaning about not physically available?

Looking forward to this .. hopefully it'll hang around for repeated watches as it's on YouTube

Any idea where the voice-over is from? (Doesn't sound like it's Manics related)

Well Pink Floyd and your Genesis and bands of many others put up their concert films and such during "lockdown". I really wanted the Manics to do something like that.
I hope it stays up and is permanent.
Now I want no bitching it should have been in the book!

There are different programs out there for ripping things off YouTube if anyone is so inclined.

I hope there is not too much talking and there is a lot of riffing.

I think I've seen some of this footage before back in the 90s on a VHS but I might be imagining it. Is this the JDB Mickey Mouse t-shirt gig?

Sounds like an attendee of the Japanese tours looking back on their time as a young person engrossed in rock n roll. Only guessing though!

Sounded a bit too intense and like an extract from a movie. It wouldn't surprise me if it's the inspiration for the line in Sleepflower.

From the NME story I was taking it that the voice over is 'fictionalised' by Keiron and has been written from the point of view of a fan at that time. Sounds a bit odd to me to be honest (am sure they could have found a real person to speak to?) but looking forward to the 'raw' live footage.

oh yeah

Quote:
the film is fictionally narrated in the style of one of the many hardcore fans that followed the band around on the tour.
So not a real person then.

That’s erm, an interesting approach.

Hopefully it’ll be 90% live music and 10% chat.
