Glasnost is your most disliked album track of all their albums? Really? What's that about? What is it about it you dislike so much do you think?

I like it a lot, but 'Glass Snot' made me laugh though.

Almost no change since last time, except the placement of RiF.

1. This is My Truth
2. Everything Must Go
3. Lifeblood
4. Futurology
5. Rewind the Film

6. The Holy Bible
7. Journal for Plague Lovers

8. Know Your Enemy
9. Generation Terrorists

10. Resistance is Futile
11. Gold Against the Soul
12. Postcards From a Young Man
13. Send Away the Tigers

Superb / good / ok / only own because I like the band.

Lifeblood is the gift that keeps on giving. With each passing year and each nostalgia tour I think the pull to it gets stronger. Coupled with the fact that the band appear to dislike (if not detest) it, there is an element of absence making the heart grow fonder for sure. But also, the thing that fascinates me is what kind of work they'd have come up with had they carried on down that road.

PS: love GlassSnot tho...

I've gone for an Olympic style rating:

Gold medal match - Everything Must Go and Holy Bible

Bronze medal match - Journal For Plague Lovers and Futurology

Quarter finalists - Rewind the Film, Resistance is Futile, This is my Truth, Generation Terrorists

Group Stages - Send Away the Tigers, Postcards From a Young Man, Lifeblood, Gold Against the Soul, Know Your Enemy

This is my Truth and Generation Terrorists made it through on the strength of the singles from the albums really. I still maintain that had the latter in particular been a bit shorter then it would be right up there.

Cost me a bit in p&p, but the Japanese version of Lifeblood is still one of my favourite Manics purchases. The Soulmates and Antarctic as the extra album tracks and a collection of b-sides from around that era with a few live tracks. When you think Forever Delayed, There by the Grace of God and Door to the River were also around that time, then it was a good 'era' for the band, even though it didn't result in one of their strongest albums (in my opinion of course!).

Lots of reasons really - firstly, I just don't think it sounds much like a Manics track, it's a bit too happy-clappy for my liking - I'm pretty sure that someone said it sounded like a Hanson song, which I agree with unfortunately. Secondly, the lyrics are pretty dire and banal. Thirdly, I don't like the title, especially when it's mentioned during the course of the song! Finally, the guitar solo is dull, it lacks something and towards the end I always hear a bum note that's not there and that's irked me for years!

We can only hope that they'll love it once more in their old age. From what I hear it's James that's the blocker, as Nicky and Sean love it.

Oh well. I disagree with almost everything you've said, but you like what you like! Thanks for the reply.

I remember reading an interview where Nicky said they would go more electronic!

I’m no fan of the track either. Picked this user name having heard half of it that week on the radio before the album came out 😂
