There is at least one, "Generation Preachers". I'm not sure when they last played though.

Janet Street Preachers were kicking around for a bit. But to be honest, I think they only did it so they could use that name, which is fair enough, it's a good name

I went to see them with Louise Mitch in Taunton .
The music was good,it was just when the singer opened his mouth but he did look good in his sailor suit

I saw Generation Preachers at a Manics fan convention. They were cool, met them afterwards, I remember the James dude giving my mum a kiss, which I dont think she was happy about heheh. The Nicky guy came on stage and flashed his backside to the audience (and he looked scarily like Wire!) AND I met Patrick Jones for the first time and also Simon Price, who I didn't recognise at the time when he asked 'Do you want me to sign your programme?' to which I said 'No thank you' I also met Sean Moore's mum (the real Sean Moore, apparently everyone has met her) She promised to get me backstage passes for the Millenium gig and I never got them! Think she was boasting about being Sean's mum. GP were quality though.

Yeah i saw them play back in 2000 in salisbury. Tiny little venue called the black pig. They only got through three quaters of their set list before the owner told them to pack up as on about 5 people showed up! They were really good tho!

the Generation Preachers split up in about 2001. I haven't heard of any new tribute bands recently.

Wonder what they're doing now. Must be someone on here who knows em or is one of em. Remember seeing an advert for em doing a gig in Hull next door to where I was working at the time, about ten years ago.. Surprise surprise, both places got knocked down ages ago.

Still, I'd see a tribute band while we're waiting for em, they're the only one I've heard of. Find it quite sad that Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes had several tribute bands after 5 minutes, but Manics don't. I need to stop treating my Manics fandom like a football team fandom...
