I think Richey once said that in any given religion, the Bible or book of choice is considered the book of gospel truth, and this was theirs.

That's weird considering the title 'This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours'...I suppose two versions of truth?

Two interpretations or ways of conveying the same truth maybe?

Just adds more fuel to my belief that THB and TIMTTMY are sister albums.

From the NME piece on The Holy Bible, Richey had said: "In every hotel in the world, the only constant is the Holy Bible." I thought there was an elaboration on this in one of the Manics books though, I can't seem to find the passage alas.

EDIT: Ah wait, maybe he says that in that Youtube video linked above, his comments are transcribed in Nailed to History too:
Quote:
"In every hotel, in every part of the world, the only constant is The Holy Bible," Richey later said by way of explanation. "And the album's called that because for me, whether you choose to believe or not - believe in religion, Christianity, whatever - or whether you're agnostic or an atheist, the simple fact is that religion has shaped world history and still does. Even if people deny that, it's still an important factor in world events right now." For Edwards, it was about facing reality more than anything else: "The holy book in any religion is supposed to be about the truth, and I think the way most religions choose to speak that truth keeps them in their proper place...In most European countries, the very fact that women priests might be ordained offends a lot of religions. They're trying to say that women are second class and inferior, which is basically what they mean. It's those types of people who have been offended by the title The Holy Bible. (But), if the Holy Bible is true, it should be about the way the world is, and I think that's what my lyrics are about...they speak about the world as it actually is, don't ignore things, don't pretend things don't exist. I don't think that's any way to live your life, really."
