Christchurch for me!

Making a trip out of it now. If they announce an NZ show, I will probably still end up going to an AUS one...unless of course they come to CHCH in which case I will go to both gigs

Vogon Poet, there is a thread in the tour subforum on the Australia dates - I'm sure there's some fellow Sydneyites in there!

I'm making a trip out of it too! I've had a quick look at airfares and hotel costs and decided just to do Sydney/Adelaide/Melbs. Hotels in Brisbane are crazy expensive which surprised me so I've counted that out Adelaide looks like the pick of the venues - very small, capacity only 700!

That's a shame because it's an ace venue. I've seen Travis and Shihad there and they were both awesome gigs.

I think if we all pester enough we might just get an Auckland date out of them, I'm going to email Hall or Nothing and also tweet them.

Anyway, I'm selfishly bumping this. Because a space for NZ manics fans to talk is a good thing. I heard rumours that they would do the BDO and even though it was always unlikely, my heart still sank a little when the acts were announced and they were not among them. Perhaps someone was confusing them with Andrew WK? An easy mistake to make, I'm sure.

Will there be a further BDO announcement? There usually is, right? A part of me was also thrilled about the early rumours of Hole coming. They need more bands to counter the meathead acts. Wolfmother and Airbourne? What the hell is the point of having both of them? I want a reason to cut short my South Island holiday to head back to Hamilton (and, obviously, Auckland).

Anyway, for me this is second only to the Morrissey Tour travesty of early 2009. An announcement was made that "dates have been booked". That is more than a rumour. And of course it never happened.

So great to meet so many kiwi fans over the last week!!

Just a little update for those of you who didn't hear it from the horse's mouth (so to speak!) in Oz. I asked James why they hadn't come to NZ on the tour and he said it was simply because the tour promoter hadn't offered it. So I guess we have to take it up with Michael Coppel and not with the Manics!

I've been doing my bit to convince them to come this way next time (James said they would try and come back in two years and that he was coming to Aus in some form or another for the next Lions tour!) and I got stuck in a doorway talking to Martin Hall for quite a while in Melbourne so took the opportunity to plant the seed that Auckland would be a good place for them to play. He suggested playing before the Welsh rugby games at the Rugby World Cup - pretty sure he was joking, but how awesome would that be!!!!

I reckon they would go down well here at the Welsh Dragon Pub in Wellington, they always play the Manics in there...

I second the Manics playing before a Welsh rugby match. Might get the team fired up a bit!

Thirded. Where are they playing in New Zealand next year? Presumably at least a couple of their matches are in major cities.
