Is Bristol Street a bypass or can you walk down it? Google maps is telling me to walk round. Everything looks simple enough from station to hotel to gig, just a bit of an inconvenience and I'm an impatient bugger.

Bristol Street is a dual carriage way with pavements down either side, but the only crossing near the venue is the subways at Holloway Circus island. You can't miss it, there's a stone Chinese pagoda in the middle and a massive skycraper next to it:

The venue's just behind the camera in that shot, and the city centre / New Street station is just down the right hand turn at the island.

I've marked New Street station on there too for anyone coming by train.

PS The Albany NCP car park is where the 'Alexandra Theatre' is marked on the map.
Ah, that's better... Google was sending me north west of New Street for the gig

Sounds like it was sending you to the old Dale End Academy that's closed down now.

I've worked about five minutes from the venue for the past few years, so know the area really well completely by accident!

Lol, I've worked in the centre of Brum for 5 years and still would'nt know any route out of the city centre. I'm just glad nobody has to pass that unfinished monstrosity opposite Lloyd house at the side of Snow Hill Station

Which hotel are you at?
Most of them are really close to the academy anyway and really easy to get to as long as you don't mind walking through the subways

We're staying at the Etap. £32 for a room with a bunkbed and a double bed and a shower without a curtain. Needs must..
