I agree with Nick. Pop was better than rock in the naughties and Lady Gaga is the best new artist this millennium/century.

Lady Gaga is a huge balloon, just like La Roux and the whole noughties pop thingy. They'll be as memorable and as timeless as Samantha Fox in the 80's. Maybe I'm just too old, but they do not entertain me no matter how hard they try. It seems like they do entertain Nicky though. Viel Spaß, Nicky

Pretty much my thoughts exactly on a lot of the Gaga, La Roux, Little Boots, etc... I like Humbug by the Arctic Monkeys as well though, Perhaps me and the Wire are just very different people in some respects!

Artists like this Gaga woman, etc, are just always the latest fad. Two years down the line it'll be like "where did they go?" I've only heard one song and I thought it was like most poppy rubbish.
Anyone else noticed that artists / bands these days don't seem to have much staying power after 1st / 2nd album? Weird. Thank God the Manics have kept going all this time and have a very loyal fanbase

I'm almost certain a lot of the comments above were being made about Madonna in 1986 and Britney in 1999.

To be honest I see more of Wire's sensibilities in La Roux and Gaga than in almost any indie band around today. I think he sees that too.

Whatever you think of any of their music, I don't really see how you can compare the impact of Gaga with the other two tbh.

I really don't see how GaGa is interesting at all ? It just the same car crash we have seen 100 hundred times.

La Roux just sounds like a washed up 80s synth player, that managed some how to get a record deal.

Them Crooked Vultures are probably the worst example nicky could of picked on, since they actually do sound like solid unit when on stage and there are tons of other super-bands that sound like a bag of poo. Should of chosen Velvet Revol.......

Yeah, Gaga is huge because she is appealing to people in the same way the manics and the smiths did. She might look like pop but she is collecting up all the fucked up kids and making them feel good!
