Not necessarily, like I said mine was £30 and I've had it for 5 years now with no problems whatsoever. I don't think you'd get the same one for £30 now though.

everything sounds really shit on mine All it's good for is transferring songs to the USB. The needle is so useless i need to put a pound coin on the tone arm to give it some weight and stop it jumping It depends if you're going to play much vinyl i guess. If it's just for the odd single or whatever then cheap will probably do.

yeah, i heard the one from bbc radio yesterday, after looking over this thread and it is a studio full band version.

Mine's a reproduction of an old turntable but it has CD player and radio as well. I can't transfer songs though, but it's still pretty decent. You are right though, if you are not going to be using it very often there's no point in spending a lot of money.
