You're Tender and you're tired...

...Did the Manics ever play that one live? It's one of my favorite Manics songs right now.

Wasn't this the song they performed at Glastonbury one year and Nicky said that James was going through the motions 'acting singing' or something? Dunno if that was 1999, probably was.

Yeh it was played at Glastonbury in 99 although it may have been James saying that about himself rather than nick about James if my memory serves correctly.

As for playing new material before promo time- born a girl and ready for drowning at Reading, and empty souls and solitude sometimes is at isle of Wight and everything will be at Glastonbury all spring to mind though.

Defo wasn't '97. That was a year before the album came out! (unless they were playing a new song at the time of course, dunno). Yeah, think it was James saying what Nicky had said to him and agreeing with Nicky that he wasn't giving it his usual oooomph!

Aye, not played enough. Would love to see it live now, but it'd be a massive surprise now. Got the bootleg of it at Glastonbury, don't think they did it more than four or five times?

Love this song, one of my favourites off the album. I'd love to see 'em dust it off. I think they played it a handful of times in '99 (including Glastonbury), no idea if they did it before the album's release. Definitely underperformed though.

Other tracks played before release have been covered in other threads.
