Manic Street Preachers' tenth studio album Postcards From A Young Man was released on Monday in a flurry of amazing reviews. It's very close at the top of the album chart (very VERY close) so if you would like to help the guys to #1, please get your copy of the album from any of the links below. If you've already bought one (thank you) - tell your friends and family to buy one too!
Saw it this morning and it kinda made me gag. Seriously?!

I'd say not instant enough. Needed something to announce the album, their return. I really don't think the chart position of INWJTEOL does it justice on what is has achieved.

EDIT: But I would absolutely consider it for a following single, without question.

“Oh don't be evil, just be corporate, and fool the world with your own importance”

Criticising the internet then using it to get album sales.....

Who says the richer, wiser Manic's aren't just like the 91-92 one's!!!!

My deluxe package arrived yesterday! Great set! I'm now about to listen to the demos.

I gave the demos version a slightly different cover for my iPhone. Since the title of the album doesn't scroll I soon realized I wouldn't be able to tell which was the album and which was the demos by just looking at it. Gave the demos a sepia cover.

I think Golden Platitudes is one of the most beautiful songs I have heard but I don't think the record buying public would get it - not sure why, but just don't feel it should be a single. I think it should be one of those brilliant album tracks which remains a hidden gem. It is, however, one of my favourite songs on the album, just don't think its instantly accessible enough.

Just got my copy yesterday. My art print is "It's Not War", which did you get?

I don't think it'd make a good single because it doesn't follow the usual verse/chorus/verse/chorus format most singles do. I'm not saying that's a bad thing; the song is one of my favourites on the album, but I just don't think it's single material, as is often the case with my favourite album tracks actually.

It just doesn't settle well with me, kinda feels like having a middle class person tell me what it's like to be working class.
I know what you mean, but I reckon it means either the vacuous life of an entertainer or the alienation of those living under a capitalist system with everybody punching in the same number or tightening the same screw a thousand times a day. Maybe.

After about a week of listening its a bit of a grower. At first I enjoyed the first four songs and felt the rest were a bit forgettable, but after repeat listens I have appreciated the rest of the album more and more. Overall a good album, if nothing spectacular, although Nicky singing really should be stopped.

I had to youtube it, & I have to say I can't hear it although you are not the first to say "Sum 41". All I hear is Springsteen, Queen & The Who.

It's my favourite of the album, and even if it is somewhat trite, I love the lyric: I fell back in love with love / I know that it might sound odd and the way James croons it.

Yeah, the intro sounds very like sum41, if that's the song I was talking about the other day.

I think the pointless jobs/pointless lines line is a bit much coming from nicky
