Ha ha! Yes, at the time, Sean would have struggled with a full kit! He went for the Bobby Gillespie set up, much easier to pick up and run off with when the crowd got heavy ;-)

This is fantastic!

I had to chuckle at how James didn't flinch when a can of lager was bouncing off of his bonce, but when one flew into the amp he was looking at it in a deeply concerned fashion for a good few seconds. Thank Christ it wasn't a Blackstar or it could have been curtains for the can chucker! There's another genius moment when Nicky moves like a tom-cat to quickly duck when something is flying at him on the stage. Gold.

That has also got to be the most Simonon looking I've ever seen Nicky. What a star, even then.

...I'm also amused that I have several pairs of almost identical jeans to the ones Nicky is wearing there back in 1986. The only difference is that I bought mine like that, whereas I'm certain that Wire did a lovely DIY job on those bad boys himself.

I just hope that your Mum still managed to gently rock you to sleep down on the front row

I was about -2 when UK punk was the centre of the musical universe in 1976 and I'd have been 8 when MSP were doing their thang in that theatre. You really can see how hugely it inspired them after discovering the Clash etc in that 10th Anniversary special on the telly.

Nothing wrong with having your mum at the gig. Mine was on the door, taking the ticket money. Oh, and telling the louts to sit down and behave 'I know your dad!', 'My son's not playing til you stop chucking cans!', that kind of thing. Oh, the embarrassment ....

Mums seem to be crucial in the world of rock n roll! My own little Momma was always very supportive of the young Nikolai's musical endeavours too: be it writing down lots of different ideas for band names for my early groups or indulging the teenage me's love of MSP by doing things like sitting, listening and taping the Manchester Nynex gig of 1997 off of the radio for me whilst I was at said gig.

Are Mothers Saints? They do tend to be, bless 'em.

Thanks for putting that video up on here for us fella.

The whole edit job makes it seem like some weird Japanese nightmare, to the point where I'm now already questioning whether i just saw or imagined the whole thing.
