If you had 30 minutes with the Manics...

What 5 questions would you ask?

Oh no, I was just joking! I meant that I would ask inappropriate questions that are only fit for the Appreciation section of the forum.

Appreciation type questions aside here are some of mine -

James - 'Why did you let the pigeons out?' (see dodgy Manics biog for further info)
- 'When are you going to work with Jeff Lynne?'
- 'Is there any guitar that you really want but haven't bought yet. If so, which one?'

Nicky - 'Which band haven't you insulted yet and why?'

Sean - 'How is the rabbit breeding going?'

Only 5 questions in 30 minutes?
I have no idea, my mind would just go blank as I'd be too star struck and just want to have photos with them and jump around in excitement like a 4 year kid.

I'd ask if I could choose the setlist for a gig. The following four questions would be "please?" upon being turned down.

That's kind of how I was when I met them. LOL. I couldn't think of anything to ask them. Too star struck - even though they are such down-to-earth regular guys. Got photos with them, but all I could do was shake their hands, and say how much I liked the show and 'thanks' for finally coming back the the U.S.

Was I the only person who saw the initial thread title and instantly thought, 'Well, I'd ask Nicky and Sean to leave the room, and then...'

Seriously, I'd ask James if he wanted to write that Oscar nominated soundtrack for my film (when it comes out).

Reminds me of Noel Gallagher when he first met Paul McCartney:

"I had all these profound, amazing things that I wanted to ask him. I settled for, 'So...do you watch Brookside?'"

That's one hell of a twisted metaphor for his whole songwriting career!!

off the top of my head,

1. you are very much a "fans band" with a loyal, dedicated following, yet for all these years you have stuck with Sony, who have a less than favourable reputation for how they treat consumers. why?

2. around the time of This Is My Truth.... you said you were "sick of bands coming along saying anyone can do this, only we can do this (Q interview i think)". just how frustrating do you see the charts being a plaything for X Factor / Idols contestants, and the seemingly disposable nature of musical acts these days?

3. Nicky, the easy answer is "all of them", but does one particular lyric you've written in the last 15 or so years stick out as having you think "God, i wish my mate (as opposed to just band member) Richey was here to see/read this"?

4. you have an impressive catalogue of covers. any songs that you really want to try a cover of, or alternatively any you tried that you decided to ditch?

5. you've famously dropped a certain line from Motown Junk. are there any other songs you've ever been tempted to change the lyrics to whilst out on tour?

if any of them are any good, and anyone here ever gets the chance to ask them personally or as a journo, go wild.
