Just walked into a bar with The Secret He Had Missed playing.

Then Quest For Ancient Colour plays.

Me: okay they're playing the album nice.

Nicky Wire demo version of Don't Let The Night Divide Us plays.

I'm in a pub playing CD2.

I am entirely okay with this.

Haha very good stuff Always nice to hear Manics songs played in public, especially when it's something that's not one of the big hit singles.

As I'm in the midst of my early 30s, it's safe to say I'm about the age the Manics were during the Know Your Enemy era.

I've noticed that now, all their Richey era stuff feels more like adorably cute, compared to how it felt when I was young, and then again when I was that age.

And, indeed, while I love their recent works a lot, the non single tracks of Know Your Enemy somehow feel closer to home than they used to.

I find it amusing how, when you reach the age of your favourite artists at the time they made the their particular works of art, things kind of start to... align? I don't know how to define it, but there's definitely a difference between the admiration you feel before reaching that age, the empathy of when you do reach the same age, and then the candid cuteness when you're past that age.

Could be one of the reasons why some art "never gets old". You loved it, you still do, and you will forever, BECAUSE you perceive it differently at each stage of your life, and every time it feels like a new discovery.

Very sad. They always seemed to have such a good rapport with her, particularly james as he'd often be a guest on her show.

I like to think they are going to stick with the play each song properly first before recording approach.
Or it could be something different. Don't know
Got stuff coming this year. Shows will be over and played before we know it.
Just a random hope for the band! No idea what it sounds like. You could say they had lockdown to practice. But I think that connection to the songs before recording just made all the difference as much as the piano composition.

... and whilst there have been a few mentions of it on their social media accounts it doesn't seem like they're doing anything substantial to mark the event.

(By comparison, Blur released their fifth album twenty five years ago today and are at least getting together to do a Tim's Twitter album party to mark it).

Would love them to get involved with Tim’s listening party.

Tough choice on which album I’d want them to choose. Probably something less popular like KYE or Lifeblood as EMG and THB etc have been done to death.

Do it!!

Can't help but feel if the Manics were going to do one they'd have already done it during deepest, darkest lockdown (Blur did one for Parklife right at the beginning, not sure if they've done any since).

No idea if they aren't interested in doing it or just not friends with Tim Burgess, but you'd think they'd be a pretty big draw for such an event.

I have also wondered if the Manics might do Tim's listening party, or if they're too great to. It would be nice to go through GT or Lifeblood with Nicky's views. Blur have done one tonight with Alex and Dave for #Blur25

Remember Nicky saying he wasn't interested in any of that, might have been one of the Q&As in Kingston Pryzm.
