For You Manics, The War Songs Are Never Over!
Ah War! HUH! Good God, y'all! What is it GOOD. FOR?
Well giving the Manics something to write about Sequels To Forgotten Wars has been announced as a track on RIF. But this got me thinking, how about a thread were we catalogue every war song and reference from their career? This is from top of my head GT Slash And Burn Plus the lyrics to Crucifix Kiss GATS La Tristesse Durera (Scream To A With) THB The Intense Humming Of Evil Mausoleum Revolution EMG Brain fart, can't think of any. TIMTTMY Funny story I almost thought the same as EMG but If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next Plus Black Dog On My Shoulder KYE Freedom Of Speech Won't Feed My Children Video for So Why So Sad Not sure about including Baby Elian as was that done out if war? Lifeblood Solitude Sometimes Is And Empty Souls? Well Vietnam is referenced in The Love Of Richard Nixon SATT Send Away The Tigers (Zoos in Baghdad mainly) Imperial Bodybags Oh yeah, Rendition JFPL Another brain fart unless that Invisible Armies thingy PFAYM (It's Not War) Just The End If Love Autointoxication? RTF War reference in This Sullen Welsh Heart 30 Year War F Let's Go To War Sex, Love, Power & Money? Would anyone like to add or argue the toss and remind of the b-sides I've overlooked? And I did think of calling this thread "The War Crimes Of Manic Street Preachers" but that might get taken the wrong way and produce a different sort of thread I didn't want. Plus at least I didn't put on a fake German accent for the title! Last edited by Son of Stopped; 08-01-2018 at 23:37. Reason: Forgot PFAYM songs!! FMML!! |

Re Everything Must Go: I would suggest that Kevin Carter could be a war song.

Funny story! Went to bed last night. It was a cold night. Was all snug as possible and as I drifted off.... Woke suddenly and went "ẞhit!! KEVIN FUCKING CARTER!!!"

Huh, that is funny. Perhaps, Song from M*A*S*H (Suicide Is Painless). Although I'm not sure whether cover versions count. |
