lt's also about time they asked their suffering fans what they'd like them to tour with. l am sick and tired of travelling from Norway hoping for something different yet l get the same tired old shit, even under the guise of a new album promotional tour.

Not playing the latter songs from PFAYM is criminal, and reducing the numbers they do play on the promotional tour just stinks. Ah well, Brixton soon......

If they release a new set I reckon they'd be a standard 1 disc version of all the big hits (but not just a carbon copy of FD version) and then probably a more deluxe version with say 3 CDs full of tracks picked by the band themselves, including early stuff, b-sides, live tracks, covers, album songs, etc. And then a DVD on there too with all the music videos post the FD dvd and probably a bunch of live footage from over the years. It's good to get another compilation out cos although FD sells well still it's only got stuff up to 2002 and a couple of the edits on there are cringe worthy Good news if you ask me.

Guess this explains where the material for the "70 songs of failure" is coming from

I'd say this is a good post to read for people saying people shouldn't complain about the setlists.

My initial reaction is make it shorter than the 2002 GH.

I hope they do some massive gigs and play the fuck out of them.

Im guessing that most would prefer a "Best of" to a "Greatest Hits".

Either way the GH will basically be a typical Manics gig with EMG, Australia, and KC in it. Guaranteed.
So what did Nicky say?

If it's a Best Of tour then they will just play The Holy Bible in full right?

The only time i saw the manics play a bad gig was during the FD tour, so not jumping for joy with this. It looked like they were going to be playing gigs during the summer anyway. This just guarantees it will be the same old set.

Not big enough for half of those sadly. Wembley Arena at a push and maybe Manchester Central.

I think the arena tours I've been to were actually my least favourite Manics gigs (well, the MEN gig in 2004 was probably my least favourite gig ever actually), so I can't say I'd be that bothered if they embarked on another arena tour. I doubt they'd sell them out either.

I think they should just sell a collection of all the singles instead of calling it 'Greatest Hits' or 'Best Of', terms which seem very vague and subjective. Greatest Hits by what measure? unit sales or chart position or band's favourites? Best Of according to who?

Indeed. I sold my Brixton ticket. I'm not going to travel from Belgium and pay money again (eurostar, hotel, ...) for the same old setlists. When they announce a new, challenging tour, I'll be back.

I'm not surprised they're wanting to put out another greatest hits really, Forever Delayed was far from a proper introduction (and only one song from THB, ridiculous!), plus it would commemorate reaching 10 albums - another cog in this "one last shot at mass communication" business. I would hope it would be a two-discer to give best / best-known tracks the proper coverage they deserve, or at least one disc + dvd / some kind of bonus content pre-existing fans would appreciate.
