New Greatest Hits due for release in 2011 with big shows in May...

What are the thoughts on this?

My initial reaction is make it shorter than the 2002 GH.

I hope they do some massive gigs and play the fuck out of them.

Im guessing that most would prefer a "Best of" to a "Greatest Hits".

Either way the GH will basically be a typical Manics gig with EMG, Australia, and KC in it. Guaranteed.

Maybe we'll get another 2 tracks and a single release in lieu of a 4th single from Postcards. Dont really see the point of another compilation but oh well, maybe it'll act as another draw a line under a version of the band.

It's good news
We will probably get a couple of new tracks on the compliation and I honestly think it will be a 'best of' as its way to soon for another greatest hits.

Could also mean a new official DVD? Maybe with previous tour footage!

A tour is awesome news - seriously I might as well say it, I wouldn't know what to do without the Manics in my life, so bring it on

Nicky xfm interview.

Release date of GH not mentionned but putting 2 and 2 together regarding his mentioning of big shows in May suggests it might be around them. To be fair it would be a good move after the success of the last 3 albums.

They pretty much play greatest hits setlists already anyway, so I can't see these gigs being much different to usual

I am not liking this idea so far. Since the last GH, they released four albums. One they ignore and another that didn't have any singles released.

Brilliant.
How long will it take before people slag the album before the tracklisting is released
'Greatest Hits' or 'best ofs' will always bring in new fans or listeners so it can only be a good thing surely?

It gives me the chance to see my favourite band live again, and it will likely give us some new tracks so it's all good

Hoping they'll replicate the past attempt, ie write two amazing new songs and a load of fantastic b-sides to go with the token new single.

(although hopefully this time they'd skip the bit where they disown all those)

Maybe the U.S. mix of Revol will be on it?
