Hmm, well it certainly appeared that SKON only sold to Manics fans.

We don't know that though! Might have been a few casuals that bought it and some fans that didn't!

The Manics won't chart again until they listen to all the new material to hear what sounds "Less shit" when played on those tiny tinny things people play loud on buses? That's the future! So I'm going for Postcards as it'll sound better condensed than GP.

Call me old! I'm GLAD to be!

Don't want either of them condensed.

The future of personal music players should emphasise 'personal'. I can't stand the blaring MP3 players.

If promoted the same, yes, Sony tend to realise when albums have hit potential even if they sometimes have questionable singles taste (if anyone mentions Nixon I kill them, it's a noticeable single with a great chorus).

A song in the end has to live on its own merit, hype alone can not make a single sell a trillion copies even if people like to use that excuse to make themselves feel better about charts.

It'll be Postcards I think. I doubt it'll do any better than the other two. I think it's more down to the way the charts have just changed in the last few years than anything else.

I just think the manics would never achieve that success again regardless of what was released. I have always felt that if they had released SATT OR PFAYM straight after TIMT then there would be more number 1's then you could count on your hands.

Maybe they would, but that would have deprived us of some infinitely better albums.

I don't think another single's warranted, but have a feeling they'll release Postcards. To me it's just an obvious example of what they think 'the masses' want (but are wrong about).

I will eat my hat* if it's anything other than Postcards From A Young Man.

*hat may be made of cake and/or chocolate. In fact cake and/or chocolate hat may be eaten regardless of outcome.
