How long ago was this? When we were all growing up in Cov((around 96ish) there was this guy called Jay, who was older than us all and by god the likeness was scary we'd all fawn over him something rotten...He was one of the first ports of call on Memory Lane when I met up with an old friiend recently. mmmmmm

If that ain't proof, then go fuck yourself.

The evidence:
1) Welsh
2) Looked like Richie Edwards
3) Has the surname Edwards

Circumstantial evidence:
1) I think Richie Edwards liked fags and vodka
2) Didn't he support Nottinham Forest or was that Nicky Wire?
3) Sun tan

i hope they give this guy the Madeline case pretty soon, and then he can have a sniff around for Lord Lucan.

oddly, out of the blue today, a good friend asked me what the most "plausible" theory was in regards of Richey. i said suicide or he just felt like vanishing, but the point is that the world needed Richey a lot more than Richey needed the world, and that's that. i will apologise to her tomorrow, and say that it is entirely possible that he just wished to go for the best suntan in history, got it, decided that his beloved fans would reject him as a "sell out" or "corporate whore" or something for doing something as bourgeois as catching some rays, and thus headed off to Nottingham to befriend petrol station attendants after, presumably, being inspired by what he saw in Alan Partridge.

It's on the internet so it must be true!

It was more like 2003/04. I think the Goa and Canary Islands sightings had stopped coming in by then so maybe he was back over and living somewhere in the Midlands. Though the odds are more likely that it was your friend Jay.

Shame the Coventry lasses weren't fawning over me in 96. I didn't look like Richey but I had a Manics t-shirt!

tsk tsk, just because your glass is forever half empty doesn't mean you should try and spill the glasses of those who have it half full...

I agree. Lets not open up a whole new vat of nastiness over Richey with this album just a week away. People are allowed to have varying opinions, but there are respectful ways of giving them.

Oooh, fierce. [I've heard everything from both sides by now, I don't care.]

Cheers, being quoted from another forum is a bit of a headf*ck though
Maybe I was too quick to shoot this one down though, maybe he's using the nickname 'Android'

i believe the river/estuary/sea would've washed up the body of evidence by now if he had jumped, i think there's enough evidence to suggest he didn't and that he's in somewhere like africa or a country thats not westernized in many ways as to remain anonymous.
15yrs ago there was nothing like the mad level of cctv around compared to now, the fact he'd been sleeping in his car moving around until the battery went flat suggests to me that he was looking to keep a low profile and coupled with the fact he withdrew £200 from his bank account each day for two weeks suggests he was looking to exist from hotel to hotel or leave the country...i'd not thought about it before but from where his car was left Bristol is only a stones throw away and he could easily have jumped on board some cargo ship and escaped abroad that way without any questions or eyebrows raised as opposed to by air etc....
