My mistake! I didn't think he was I'll at the time from a personal perspective but could've sworn that I remember an interview with the Wire stating that they wanted to play 'A Secret Society' but James couldn't get the notes due to a throat problem.

Trust me to believe the Wire!!!

The sound was just so great at MOVE i thought, but it wasn't just that. It was the randomish setlist and also the band just playing everything really fast and being really angry...that's the sort of Manics gig i want to see now! Also it was piss easy to get to and from the venue, and Super Furry Animals supported. Brilliant, brilliant evening.

Very cunning, trying to deflect attention from the real reason for not playing it which may have involved a certain band member struggling with the bass notes...
