It's a Manics forum. We're all over-emotional, cynical bastards who will happily complain at those giving us new, unheard material for free.

That said, I hope to go but at least it was a fair fight if I don't win.
its cos we won't have a right to moan about them playing the same songs over and over again...

Well I wasn't that bothered about King Tuts either so...

Seriously though, I think it's cause it's a competition so maybe people don't want to get their hopes up? At least with King Tuts there was a higher chance of getting tickets. Or so we thought.

I would have thought it's just people not getting their hopes up too much at this stage, given how many tickets are actually available and how it's complete pot luck who gets to go. I haven't entered anyway, as I couldn't make it regardless, but I can't say I got too excited about King Tut's either, because the likelihood of actually getting tickets was so small. Plus, I'm seeing them multiple times in October, where they'll also be playing new material.

The 'getting to hear new material for free' part wouldn't really work for me either, as a trip to London at 2 days' notice would cost me an absolute fortune.

Aw, don't say things like that. If you win you won't be stuck for people to talk to when you get there. It's one of the few places that you're guaranteed to have something in common with everybody.

My enthusiasm isn't the same because I actually went to King Tut's and had an amazing time, whereas there's a high chance I might not even win a ticket for this one, so I don't want to get my hopes up (not to mention I can't afford to get there).

However, I will say that I am curious about this, and I am eager to hear how it goes and any possible recordings of new material. I'm waxing lyrical to myself about it instead.

I suppose I'm less enthusiastic cos I've written off any hope of getting there. No doubt it'll be special, lookin forward to reading about it.
